In the Fullness of Time - Part Eight
Added 2020-03-06 20:00:03 +0000 UTCThis is part of a short story I wrote using my solo RPG, Spooky Action at a Distance. This was generated using an earlier version of the game, so the results of the rolls might not line up to the version available now. However I still think this is a neat example of the kinds of stories that can be told with this game.
Session 7
Roll Result: 4 - Humanity becomes restless
Notes from Envoy Burgess’ Personal Journal
We’re in position below the alien once again, in the Sea of Okhotsk, safe from the rioting and demonstrations and anger. People are disappearing at an alarming rate and I keep hearing about weapons and defenses. Russia and the USA are posturing. They know that if they just get information out there the alien is likely to pick up on it. I don’t think they’ve figured out the whole omnipotence thing yet, or if it’s just something we can’t really get our head around.
I’ve just had a meeting with a member of the UN Security Council about my Solar Phenomenon Observation Satellite. They grilled me about it’s potential uses vis-a-vis the alien. I agreed that the alien’s form shares some similarities with solar phenomenon and things like our aurora borealis, but I repeated, several times, that this doesn’t mean the apparatus will give us any insight into how the alien works.
I got the impression they weren’t really looking for my permission. We’ve set up the observation room again, but wherever the alien is sending people, it’s not at us.
