In the Fullness of Time - Part Seven

This is part of a short story I wrote using my solo RPG, Spooky Action at a Distance. This was generated using an earlier version of the game, so the results of the rolls might not line up to the version available now. However I still think this is a neat example of the kinds of stories that can be told with this game.

Session 6

Roll Result: 6- The alien acts

Notes from Envoy Burgess’ Personal Journal

The ribbon has shifted. At 3:47am local time it passed above us. It sounded like lightning and fireworks, like the whole sky was crackling and on fire. It’s above the Asian continent now. One end starts over Russia then it curves down to Japan and then inland to China and ends in India. The UN is having a field day, the news is going wild with it. People are scared and uncertain. Disappearances are ramping up, and it appears they aren’t reappearing again, at least not anywhere we can find them.

It appears that it’s “feeding” has accelerated, basically the opposite of what we were hoping for. I’ve been talking to Chankul and Dr. Pierre Angiers, our head of biology. If the alien was something more physical, with a body that size, it would need a certain amount of joules, of energy to operate. They estimate, with the rate of disappearances accelerating that it could be “fully fed” within a week. I hope they’re right. The sooner the alien is done here, maybe the sooner it will leave and people will stop freaking out.
