I'm sticking to 1080p Storyboard renders now. I was rendering 4K earlier and it was taking a while, which in and of itself isn't a bad thing. But when I saw little mistakes, it was going to pile up trying to correct and re-render them.
These are just placeholder blocks and don't need to look finished, sure, but I want them to look close to finished. I want these to be images that stand alone and you can enjoy, without going "oh this looks thrown together because it's just a WIP of the animation". No! These should be just as exciting to wait for as the animation itself, which is why I go ahead and look at the lighting, composition, post-processing, etc.
So, all that is to say, I'm more motivated to make the Storyboards look polished if I can do them in 1080p, because then I can more quickly re-render when I see mistakes. And sure, if I'm happy with them, I "can" switch to 4K and then render again, but I don't want that to be something I commit to doing on a deadline!
Maybe tomorrow I'll replace them with 4K after letting the computer run a while.
