General Update - What's next?

I've got a couple things to cover for Comet Lord Miniatures - If you're just here for cold hard miniatures, there is a teaser at the end of this.

A Quick Thank You

I hope your holiday seasons went well and maybe a few of you had family members question why you had a nightmarish creature for a tree topper! I'd also like to thank everyone for their support - even if you've just joined or you've been around since my Kickstarter! I wouldn't be able to pursue a creative career without your interest and support.

OGL - Does it affect Comet Lord Miniatures?

Yeah, a bit. If you haven't heard about WotC and the OGL - not sure how you've managed it. A quick google, checking reddit, twitter or youtube should get you caught up! If you don't play D&D 5e - nothing here really changes for you.

I'll be taking down my stat blocks by the end of the month or as soon as the OGL has been confirmed/announced. If the OGL is as insane as the leaks have shown, I need to protect my IP.

Any creature with a stat block should have an additional zip file on MyMiniFactory - if you don't see one, it doesn't have stats as I didn't make stats for everything.

I did want to pursue a 'Comet Lord Monster Manual' for 5e, but that will be staying in limbo until further notice. It sucks, but what is happening to many creators that have built their careers on the OGL are going through much worse. I'm not in any place to make a brand new system, but I think Paizo, MCDM and Kolbold Press got D&D players all covered.

Again, please download the stat blocks via MyMiniFactory if you don't have them. If you bought files via my website, they should be in your downloaded zip if they were available. These will be discontinued and I won't share them if the OGL 1.1 leaks are accurate.

Painting Contest

There is just over a month and a half to print, paint and submit your paint job to the first official Comet Lord Painting Contest.

I'm not big enough to get sponsors, but you can win some awesome Artis Opus paint brushes and some Comet Lord giftcards. I've already got submissions and we've got folks sharing their WIPs on the Discord server!

What's next?

Obviously, the idea of designing a monster manual will be shelved again.

There are plans for a little pinup release in the future for those interested. I'll be keeping it separate from the Patreon / Tribe - it'll most likely a Kickstarter / FronTier thing.

There will be another update in February for Comet Lord Miniatures. I'd also like to send out another survey building off of what I learned last time! So I can focus where to go with Comet Lord Miniatures.

...For the time being I have my printers running at full capacity to test out the next release!
