Craniofacial Special! Jan 2024 newsletter
Added 2024-01-31 04:53:15 +0000 UTCHi @Patreon Supporter folks, it's my pleasure to present our newsletter issue for this month! This issue covers work by Aegaeon Galefang and @Lathreas, and provides a lot of commentary on the larger strategies we are employing in our quest to bring more snouts and tails to the world.
Due to the breadth and depth of coverage of craniofacial changes, from strategy to modeling to biomedical research, this is a special issue, and Lathreas has even written an introduction for it!
The main articles in the newsletter are:
*Project Completion: Overview of Craniofacial Bone Implant Materials and Techniques
*Craniofacial Anatomy Modeling: A milestone in alignment
The first article, about bone implant materials and techniques, summarizes some phenomenal work by Aegaeon Galefang, which "focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of specific artificial implant materials, bioimplant materials, the required manufacturing methods of bioimplants, and the practical challenges that must be overcome."
And the second article is Lathreas's detailed followup to the topic I started in my article in the December newsletter. Again, Lathreas and I have been collaborating with developing an anatomically useful model of an anthropomorphic wolf head. We have been bouncing ideas off each other, learning from each other, and challenging each other on assumptions to make for the strongest and best level of understanding and decision-making overall.
Lathreas's attention to photorealistic details as well as anatomy around the orbits/brows has been instrumental for this effort.
I thought my model (described in December) was good. But when Lathreas showed me their model, I literally cried. It wasn't just "oh wow, that's nice, they look like a wolf". It was "holy moly that is a wolf that is a wolf that is a wolf aaaa"...while satisfying all our anatomical constraints. After all our work, we finally had it. Moments like this are so rare in science, and I'll treasure this forever. ^.-.^
Thank you as always for your support and encouragement. We deeply appreciate it and can't wait to share even more progress with you soon.
PS...Yes I couldn't help myself for the picture chosen for the first page. Sorry not sorry :3
Best,
Zennith
