One cool thing the production staff did was incorporate A LOT of jeju-specific cultural references. For example....
-the orange buoys....those are called tewaks. The historic haenyo divers (those grandmothers who deep sea free dive to catch fish and shellfish) have used those for 100s and 100s of years as basically reverse anchors. The orange part floats on top while the net below is used to hold all the catch and the divers connect themselves to them as they free dive so that the boat captain knows where all the divers are in case of an emergency
-the small stone statues....the dol harabeung (literally translated to stone grandfather) have been used by the locals for 100s and 100s of years to protect entranceways and doorways from evil spirits. The oldest known versions of the statue are around 500 years old and only about 40 of them are still in existence
-the tangerines......Jeju is known for their specific version of the tangerine (it's called a hallabong....which is why the story of the farmer's name was farmer hallabong). They're known for being GIGANTIC and super sweet
-the unicorn floatie in the pool......lol, just kidding
