Thank you for spotlighting this place. I visited in December 2020 on a solo vacation. Most people don't realize how beautiful the RGV is (especially when it's not 100 degrees). I'm coming back for Thanksgiving with my kids. I started a native garden this year in Houston so I'll be sure to pick up some plants next time. Already have my Texas frogfruit planted. Laguna Atascosa, Bentsen State Park, and Estero Llano State Park are all worth a visit.

Lovely place, tossed some money their way to help keep it going.

I appreciate the public service announcement! FWIW - I've been using the parental controls to block Fox news from my aging parent's TV, or TVs in random hotel rooms... wherever, really... maybe it's a start.

Tony, I ran into your Wired piece in the wild. Good on ya man! You clean up nice, gives us slobs something to aspire to. ;-)

What a great piece. I need to find a good source of natives for pollinators in the northeast. Working on making my lawn smaller but ticks use the tall grasses as a highway,

Wish I could grow some of this up in northern Utah. We were recently notified that due to our drought out culinary and secondary water allocations have been reduced 60% with perhaps more restrictions in July. I'm gonna grow prickly and other poppies instead of tomatoes in my valley garden plot this year. I've gone in heavily for the yuccas, species sunflowers and other natives here at home. Another year like this and the prospects are really grim.
