I really liked the comedy moments in it, like Ufthak's dynamic with the gretchin and squig. Also the fact he struggles to count... really felt like hitchkikers' level of comedy over the cosmic horrors. Which parts made you laugh, if any?

2023-05-11 19:31:35 +0000 UTCI really liked this book but there is a real lack or ORKY books written from the ORK perspective. Do you have any thoughts on why that is? My favourite part was when they find the Tech priest with the lascannon very late on the book who thinks a) lasacannons are a good way of solving most problems and b) hadnt noticed the ORK invasion.

What is the secret of her maybe-xenos artifact? Will Ufthak give Kaptain Badrukk a good krumpin'? Is everyone being secretly manipulated by Nizkwik, in his plan to become ultra-megaboss of all ork-kind? Tune in next week to find out!" What would Ian and Mira have happen in Episode 2?

2023-05-08 20:47:39 +0000 UTCI liked the Ork parts. I liked the Ad Mech parts (they really click for me as a faction in the literature). But I'm not sure the combination of the two worked well. It's still a good read but I think if he found a way to tell the Ad Mech story without adding Chaos on top of everything else it would resulted in a better ratio of Orkyness to non-Orkyness. Something the novel got me thinking about was how a great strength of the 40k IP is how fans with different tastes can find an entry point faction that speaks to them. If you find the general tone of modern 40k overly serious the Orks offer a much different vibe. Some questions: Would you read a sequel that follows the Ork characters? Would you read a sequel that follows the Ad Mech characters? Which would you read first?

2023-05-08 07:11:29 +0000 UTCHow did you find the multiple factional viewpoints? For an Ork book I was disappointed that there was still sections with the imperium (OK Mechanicus) as the protagonists.

2023-05-07 22:20:02 +0000 UTCI have a hard time reading Ork dialogue, having to re-read it multiple times before my brain parses the information. Assuming you read it and didn't listen to the audiobook: how easy/difficult did you find it to understand the orks talking to each other?
