But maybe it would've been smarter to aim it at the door to their cell, which had all the guards clustered behind it... hmm... :(

Really? wow that is lucky then because that is exactly what I would have done :( I figured Kohta, who sees himself more as a hero, would've sought to escape first, preferably in as dramatic a situation as possible, and so it probably wouldn't have occurred to him to use it on the guards.
