HIRING: Curse of Strahd: Reloaded Editor
Added 2024-09-02 16:12:40 +0000 UTCUPDATE: I am no longer accepting new applications. Thank you to all who applied!
Every new Reloaded release includes two parts: (1) a new arc; and (2) updates and fixes to old arcs. While #1 is usually what most people are waiting for, #2 is important for the host of newer campaigns steadily working their way through the guide.
Unfortunately, while #2 is generally pretty straightforward to do, there are enough edits with each release that it near-doubles my release timeline. This has led to additional stress on my part, especially since I want to make sure I push out new content fast enough for the DMs that are close to overtaking me - but without compromising the quality of the existing parts of the guide. Unfortunately, the more arcs I publish, the longer editing takes, since there are simply more arcs to edit.
As a result, I am now officially in the market for an editor. This position would not involve editing my work at large; instead, it would involve making specific fixes to specific sections that readers of the guide have already identified (e.g., typos, inconsistencies, outdated lore, etc.). In some cases, the edits are fairly straightforward (e.g., "fix this typo"); in others, they require some original writing (e.g., "rewrite this lore infobox to match the new lore").
Compensation for this position would be $25/hr for non-substantive edits that require no original writing, and $0.10/word for substantive edits that require original writing. The editor can expect between 5-10 hours of work per month, with payment made via your choice of PayPal or CashApp. No particular professional experience is required, but passing familiarity with Markdown and (very basic) HTML are a must. Experience with Obsidian and Github is a plus, but not required.
To apply, you can submit a copy of this application to dragnacartacreations@gmail.com. The application includes a few basic questions, as well as a short editing "test."
Your email should use the subject line: "Reloaded Editor Application," and the body should contain your Discord username and a link to the Google Doc containing your application. No resume or cover letter is necessary. You can also contact me by email before submitting an application if you have any questions.
If I decide to proceed with your application, I will send you a Discord friend request to arrange a brief interview.
Thank you to anyone who chooses to submit an application!
