Here's how I draw the hands:

Disclaimer:

I'd like to mention that this is my personal method of creation. There's no right or wrong way to do art. Embrace your style and stay open to exploring new ideas.

---------------------------------

Let me share my way of handling "hands" by using Clip Studio Paint's "hands model" asset, which has been quite helpful for me as I'm not a master at hand drawing.

Step 1: Simplifying Hand Shapes

I begin by sketching the rough outline of the hand structure, focusing on the knuckles, joints, and the base of the thumb. Since this illustration has two guys holding hands, I'll ensure to capture the right pose.
.

Step 2: Help from Mr. 3D

Finding references with the exact angle I need can be TOO challenging. So, I turn to the 3D model to assist me with adjusting the posture until it matches my structure.
.

Step 3: Breaking Down the Hand Structure

To understand finger anatomy, I use square shapes to simplify dimensions. It might look like a robot hand, but trust the process, this it's not the final look.
.

Step 4: Paying Attention to Details

I make sure to draw clear joints and nails, as the hand is the focal point of my illustration. I admit that I traced the nails from the 3D model for accuracy, but it's only a small part, so it shouldn't be an issue, right?
.

Almost There

No matter if I trace from a 3D model or a real-life reference, I make sure not to rely too much on it. I focus on finding a balance, so my illustration doesn't look stiff or flat. Sometimes, small anatomical mistakes can make the artwork more interesting and unique.
.

Final Thoughts

Don't let critics who don't understand drawing discourage you. Sometimes, what they call "mistakes" can actually make your art look more attractive. As long as it looks good and fits your artistic style, it's a great result. Keep going and trust your instincts.

So, don't be afraid of the imperfections that make your art special.

Ps. Can't reveal the final result now. It's part of a Zine I'm in.
