Oh boy I have a lot of rocks to paint for this film. But the good news is that it's quite enjoyable. It just takes time. There are a few town shots in the film, but 90% is located in the wild, so hopefully at the end of this my nature paintings will have gotten better. Creating a film is always a journey and stages of artistic development. I want to keep the backgrounds looking consistent but since I create this project over a longer timeframe, eventually I will have gotten better and therefore maybe some shots will look a bit more developed vs my first few shots for the film.
I am pretty sure I can make it all blend in the end, but I think a good idea for me now is to focus on smashing out a bunch of backgrounds while I am in the flow. However knowing myself I will want to dive into character animations as well, so we will see how efficient I can be with these backgrounds…
I got the characters done for this shot below. Currently working on a YT video about it.

Sometimes taking the paintings to an ’’almost’’ finished state is enough, as I can then in the end just polish them up. As the composition, colours and elements are established I don't have to worry about it not fitting the film. All it will need in the end is to do a bit of clean-up.
Anyways, back to it!
