Patreon Video - Ep 04 - Plant Brushes

I did go over this before in a YouTube video a long time ago but I have found some new methods I think are cool and that makes the plants more random and organic.
There is a brush setting in Photoshop that makes the brush angle with the direction of the pen stroke, which allow for some really cool results when drawing weeds, flowers and grass etc. With a good sample you can create some really unique shapes and having a ton of those will make the vegetation feel varied. The last thing I want is repetition in the brush work as that is something our eyes quickly pick up on.
I think brushes can be a way to speed up workflow. For painting in general I tend to only use a few basic ones with some texture, but when it comes to plants this is definitely a time saver. Its such a cliche to ask an artist ''hey what brush did you use'', as it often doesn't matter, but having a good arsenal of plant creators definitely comes in handy.
Hope you guys like this more raw format of videos. Might make some more of these less edited type of episodes as I think I can cover a lot of information that way.
I could make a video about how I paint some of my textures that you ''Elders'' have access to. Its not mega complex but maybe there are some things we can talk about there.
