I wanted to make a quick little post today to wish everyone a nice holiday. While this particular holiday is the Christian Easter, you don’t have to be Christian (or even religious) to appreciate the symbolic idea of renewal; it's pretty ingrained into the human experience. The idea that, no matter how bad stuff is right now, tomorrow (or eventually) will likely be better. 

I tend to believe that. I think most of us have had those really bad, awful days where everything seemed…just..pointless and ugly that giving up could be one of the items on the menu. However in every single case, things got better over time. They always do. Everything renews and grows again.

When we lost everything in an apartment fire - one of the worst days of my life - the outpouring of help from people around us was so humbling and wonderful that the next day was indeed better. Is everything all wine and roses now? No. Not even close, but it is a lot better than it could have been.

Often I get asked what the difference between ‘renewal’ and ‘redemption’ is, since it pops up a lot in my own writing. The quick answer is that while redemption is about a sort of rescue or deliverance from something bad (often through personal epiphany), renewal is all about restoration, or continuing something that was previously in place.

This holiday in particular addresses what One Hand Clapping is pursuing in remaking Runaway Princess. We are working to recreate and reimagine the game and expand on it. While the first update is still being worked on (renders and writing, mostly), we are constantly moving towards a release of the first update. 

Fortunately, the lessons we learned (and are learning) while recreating and assembling this game will allow us to avoid some of the slow-downs we have encountered earlier. It’s frustrating, to be sure, but in the end pretty damn rewarding. 

We’re still here, working hard to create something beautiful for you beautiful people. Stick with us and keep the faith; you won’t be disappointed.
