Electro stimulation

In honor of my TikTok video testing an electro-stimulation machine I received at a sexy event (if you haven’t seen it, run to my TikTok account), here’s a little more explanation on the subject and how to incorporate it to your bdsm sexlife.

Definition/explanation:

The general definition of electro stimulation reads as follow : It is a procedure in which small electric impulses are used to stimulate muscles. It helps to increase muscle strength, blood circulation, and range of motion and to lessen muscle spasms. In medicine, it is used for rehabilitation purposes, for instance in physical therapy in the prevention muscle atrophy due to inactivity or neuromuscular imbalance. For people who have progressive diseases such as cancer or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, it is used to improve muscle weakness for those unable or unwilling to undertake whole-body exercise. Studies indicate that it may lead to increased muscle mass. But electricity can also be used for naughty activities…

Electro-torture or E-stim refers to the use of electricity to excite and “punish” a sexual partner during electro-torture sex during BDSM intercourse. When it comes to electro stimulation, people usually are looking for 2 types of sensation : Pleasure and Pain.

E-stim is considered an hardcore BDSM practice so it’s not for the faint of heart (quite literally).

Because electricity is used, special electrosex devices such as the one I received from « Electrastim » are necessary. Obviously, understanding the practice, safety measures and caution are a must, particularly when managing the devices for a safe and enjoyable experience.

When getting into electro-torture, it is important to be aware of the innate risks that come with the practice. Agree on a safe word. Likewise, if you are new, agree to pace the intensity of electric stimulation. The sensation of electricity is something that needs getting used to as you may have noticed on my video.

This practice can be coupled with other ones like cock and ball torture. The electric devices often have adjustable cock rings to secure around the genitals to then send electric shocks right into it.

There oftenly are other attachments (shafts, ball shaped, clitoral specific shapes, etc) so that the electricity can be experience from within. The device I received had patches that you can stick to you lower abdomen or anywhere else (preferably not on the genitals since there’s glue on the patches). Most devices allow you to connect 2 attachments at the same time to allow for a conjoined experience between sexual partners. It makes your partner and yourself 2 half of the same electric circuit.

There are two types of electric stimulations used for erotic pleasure and torture: TENS (short for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) and shocks. While shock devices like a stun gun for example interacts with the skin and can cause burns and bruises, TENS units send electric stimulation through the body in order to stimulate the nerve endings. Both kinds of play have different safety and usage aspects to keep in mind when playing. I don’t encourage the usage of tazers or other devices that aren’t engineered or safe to use in the bedroom.

Let’s get scientific:

In order to create a sensation you need at least two electrodes with different poles that don’t touch each other and are connected to one channel on a power unit. This unit generates electric impulses onto which usually wave patterns are modulated. These impulses travel from one electrode to another and stimulate the nerves in the area roughly around the electrode. Due to the way nerves are distributed throughout the body and the way they transmit information it is possible that the stimulation can be felt elsewhere, p.e. in your glans even though the electrodes are around the balls and the penis.

Safety rules:

Incorporation in your BDSM sex-life:

E-stim can be used for arousal or as a punishment for disobedient subs.

A tip I always give to doms out there is to test their torture evolves on themselves first to really understand pain levels and adjust their behavior and force when using them. Test your electrical device on yourself first before using it on anybody else.

When starting the stimulation I would recommend slowly increasing the intensity until the sub starts feeling a slight tingle.

USE A SAFEWORD (I shouldn’t have to remind you)

Offer regular breaks, prolonged and intense exposition to electrical currents might cause nerve damages. The human body is wonderfully resilient, breaks allows for it to process and get used to the pain.

While the area in the brain which transforms pain into pleasure forgets quickly your nerves don’t. Thus it is normal to feel some buzzing sensation in the area where the electrode was placed for quite some time even after the electrode has been removed. This sensation can last for minutes up to hours.

Nearly every BDSM toy you can think of can come in an electrical version: paddles, chastity cages, clamps, pin wheels, restraints, gloves, penis sheaths, ball crusher, humbler, cock & glans rings, urethral toys and ball stretchers as electrodes.

You can use water based lube, just be careful to not put any on the actual machine/cables.

If you are up for a self-pleasuring session or for a softer, more sensual experience with your partner, choose gentler toys or put your toy in lower setting for shriving and tingling stimulation.
