I tend to learn while traveling, so I speak fairly decent Japanese and German (where I'd lived for multiple years), and have a general understanding of spoken French, Spanish (and apparently, as I'm learning this week, Italian), but my ability to speak back is very limited. For the most part, as is probably evidenced by this series, I speak with body language. I've spent most of my life in 'foreign' countries, so for me it is natural to try to speak around the language.
