It's a leap day update!

Hello all!

I wanted to fill you in on the progress of the next videos. Plural? Yeah, but no. Kind of. Maybe?

OK so I've combined a whole heckuvalotta of things into a mega video about HVAC sizing. While it's mostly about the experiment that I ran in January, you may remember from an update that I wanted to do something on some of the industry practices that are bugging me and getting in the way of More Pumping More Now. Some of that script got melded into this one and it's... long. We're talking little red fridge levels of long. Edited out it's just over an hour.

Now, the little red fridge video somehow popped off so I'm not afraid of a long video - but the conclusions to this are important, so I decided that I'm going to release a condensed and less "me" version of it on Connextras, too. I will release them together but that means it'll be a while for a public release - I haven't even finished the script for the condensed version, so almost no production on that has actually taken place.

So the plan is this: I'll put the full version up on Patreon as soon as it's done. That could potentially happen as soon as tomorrow (just gotta figure out the B-roll I need still then go a huntin' for stock footage) but the condensed version will take a few more days. I'm not just trimming the main version down - I'm significantly reworking it - so it will need another talking head shoot. But I figure the B-roll and stock footage will be quite similar so the edit should go quickly.

As I'm sure you've imagined, a lot of behind-the-scenes work has been going on at the new offistudio but at this point I'm mostly settled in! I've got something of a groove going now but stuff has been chaotic at home, too, largely from consolidating and reconfiguring what goes where. I'm not complaining or anything - that's just what moving does! But it has slowed me down more than I'd like. I imagine things will get faster and easier as I'm pulled in fewer directions, and I've got some great ideas lined up that I'm excited to tackle next!

Thanks as ever for being here, and, well, toodles!

-Alec

The fridge video was my intro to your content. The reason it caught my attention may have started with my affinity for refrigerators (I once RP'd as a talking mini-fridge and it inspired a friend enough to commission a drawing of my avatar) The video was a journey for me and ticked all my boxes: ☑️ engaging presentation ☑️ structured narrative with twists and turns ☑️ experimental hypothesis testing and sound reasoning ☑️ good balance of thoroughness : accessibility ☑️box-shaped devices that provide a service

Alec, seems like you work a lot. I used to do some video works 10 years ago, and I know how much work goes into an 40 minutes video... Scripting, recording, editing... Just by curiosity, how many members your team have? Or you do almost everything by yourself? Again, thank you and keep up!
