I started watching kdramas in the pandemic (too much time) and I saw Hwarang with V, reading some comments on youtube I realised he's from BTS, they were famous already but I had never listened to them, I looked up some MV's, I felt the visual were a bit much to me so I watched some live performances.. and starting from their voice live I could never stop lol, got into the famous rabbit hole.

2024-06-26 20:25:13 +0000 UTCWhen I first started watching BTS...it was BTS in the SOOP. With minimal makeup, no flashy clothes and seasoned people in front of cameras. I saw down to earth, funny loving guys. So it was a shock for me to see them in full, sometimes heavy makeup. And some of their outfits were really glittery and ruffled. I realize now that was and is normal in Kpop production, photoshoots and concepts. So it's opposite for me...I like BTS without the glitter and glam, just like how I was introduced to them. But now I appreciate the effort on how they put in for a certain look they want to portray to convey their artistic goal. Love it now.

Also, the members have always shown this side of them throughout their career so I never really had a point where it seemed strange to me. You get them as stars on stage, goofy on run bts, genius when writing music, boys next door on bon voyage. All of these things make you feel closer to them, care for and root for them as human beings

Recently 5 out of 7 had public pictures or videos without a shit on lol, there were even jokes about that, so at least in the present most of them obviously don't have a personal issue with that, but at that time it may have been BigHit's decision or they may have felt more confortable/less exposed this way🤷🏻♀️

2024-06-18 09:48:33 +0000 UTCRegarding their image, I loved that they showed us their natural state, it makes them feel approachable, human, real, not just some untouchable superstars. I think this side of them plays a big part in the parasocial relationship they created with the fans. They do livestreams from home, Jungkook at some point folded loundry in his living room while talking to the fans, and he even fell asleep on a livestream 😂. This makes people feel like they know them, almost like friends (of course 99.99% of us are normal and we know there is a clear limit in what we know, but still the feeling is there that we know them as people)

I can share my experience with BTS as an international Army i did not had any K-pop experience or expectations of musicians with ‘perfect look’ . Reason I started liking BTS inspite of language barrier was how authentic, Humble and passionate they are. I was actually shocked pleasantly that they are the superstar BTS I heard about-how can they be so humble,grateful and consistently hardworking even today . And who writes such deep lyrics in today’s pop world that makes you introspect-that’s my main reasons. They are my role models not cause they look good yes they do but cause who they are as humans i idolise that someone with same thoughts and fears as me is also living passionately and with consistent efforts and good character you can achieve great things.For me honestly If they were like other celebrities who thinks they are successful because they are great or perfect and maintain mystical ‘special people’ aura I might not have been Army.( sorry for long note)
