BTS and Army are finally breaking down the wall that seemed impossible to crumble. This was a great time and great deed. My RESPECT to BTS and ARMY

BTS A&R Nicole explained how they struggled in 2017 even though they were on TV, selling out US arena, booking radio interviews. The US industry/radio executives didn't want to know. Even more recently Butter and Dyna radio play was no where near lower charting songs in US. Luckily the guys, ARMY and Big Hit are persistent. https://n.news.naver.com/entertain/article/003/0012076560

Thanks for the commentary on Jin. I think I missed this before but I 1000% agree with the point of view. Also absolutely agree the word "rabid" is just sad, unnecessary and wrong. I love this episode for all the things you pointed out but mostly because it is so wondrous to see them start to fly and know how hard ARMY worked to prove to general public that this was something to be listened to and remember. Also that ARMY really showed up for BTS to tell them they matter.

Another great video and chapter. I actually remember watching this when I wasn’t ARMY yet and was blown away by how loud the crowd was and how good their performance was! I should have told my younger self to start going down the rabbit hole then! Oh well, I’m here now and can’t wait to see what they have for us in the coming years. And Jin is soooo talented I’d fight anyone who doesn’t think so. He worked and practiced so hard to be where he is and I admire that about him. And his personality is so weird but in the best Jin way 😂.

jin is so likable i can’t imagine anyone disliking him 😭 i love his light heartedness & wish he’d actually give himself more credit!

No doubt, western English speaking countries are very xenophobic in terms of accepting non-English speaking content (unknowingly I was one of those people) BUT the other aspects that have to be considered when it comes to radio play in the US is payola. It's a very well known (though illegal) practice that radio is pay to play. If you aren't paying they aren't playing, no matter where the artist comes from. Also, just like how BTS really wasn't as well known in SK compared to the # of global fans they had...it's all about whether you're playing within the system or not and who can make money off of you and BTS has always been outside of established music industry systems both domestically and internationally...BTS has openly acknowledged that Army got their foot in the door and worked really hard to promote and elevate them. Of course, there are sooooo many other factors, but underdogs with heart and talent who are kind, intelligent and loving pulls on hearts strings and attracted really loyal, intelligent and willing fans who put in huge effort. Streaming guidelines, understanding the charting systems and how they work, and getting really organized around a goal, from what I understand, came from Army.

No need. First of all I can't figure out which part is awkward. You sound great. lol

I think they had the translator at that time because translating was another burden for Namjoon, but that translator sucked. Also I'm new here! glad to have found you. i love your thoughts on the time period. If my English is awkward is because is my second language. Im not apologizing for it.

Openness and acceptance are not always at the fore front in our lives. I am so happy I found BTS - BTS has certainly enriched my life 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

This chapter is one of my favorites, because it's just great to see them finally get the recognition they deserve. The impact that BTS and K-Pop have had across the world is truly inspiring. I'm from South Africa, and since after the pandemic the surge in Korean restaurants and markets in my city has just been amazing. It's great to see the impact extend beyond the country alone, but to diaspora and expats everywhere!
