Announcing my 2nd game: Touched by Sin

How is everyone doing?

This post is dedicated to the announcement of my second game: Touched by Sin.

Above is an image from the base release, which is coming along nicely. I'm hoping it will be out sometime in August. Stranded in Space Day 18 will also be out in August. August is going to be a great month.

From left to right, the characters are Cerys, Misty, and Riho.

Beyond that, I won't give any more story details (for now), as I've put a lot of work into the plot.

What I will talk about is my mission with this game. It's three-pronged, like my wang (?).

1st goal - Faster Updates - Above all else, my goal with Touched by Sin is to release updates a bit faster. There are many ways I hope to achieve this: I'm implementing a different rendering style, there won't be nearly as many characters, and updates likely won't have as much playtime as a standard day in Stranded in Space. Touched by Sin won't be as wordy, and it won't have as much fluff. It's to the point and more focused. It's direct and structured in a narrow, narrative-driven manner. Since around Day 13, Stranded in Space's script files have been around 10k lines in length. I would expect an update of Touched by Sin to have around 3-6k.

2nd goal - More Choices/Control - Stranded in Space is more linear than most AVNs. This turns a fair portion of people off. Touched by Sin is changing that. From the very first release, there will be dozens of choices to make that will affect your relationship with the girls in the game. Without spoiling anything, let's just say there are variables like charname_affection. This is in line with most standard AVNs; I'm sure you understand what I mean when I say there are more choices and more control. I would caution that I'm keeping this in line with the above goal; I wouldn't expect split paths like Elsie's enlightenment/bisexuality or choosing to wake Nemy or Daphne—it's more like the choices in Touched by Sin will get additional scenes, content, or kinks.

3rd goal - Darker, More Obscene Sexual Content - I affectionately refer to Stranded in Space as a lover's AVN. It's nice, and I really enjoy the mood of the game. But as the title might imply to you, Touched by Sin is meant to go a different route. We're getting kicked out of the hood with this one, boys. Touched by Sin is a darker game with a darker plot that will descend even further into the realm of indecency as the story progresses. I'm talking about an entire tone shift here, gentlemen, and it's gonna be hard to remain gentle, men.

With all of that said, perhaps some of what I've said worries or concerns you. All I ask is that you give it a chance! The telltale signs of my work are still present; the story is interesting and well written, and the renders and animations will be good.

Last bit of news: As I did with Stranded in Space's first release, I will be putting the base game of Touched by Sin on all forums for free. This is to generate interest, of course.

After that, it'll be on the $5 tier, like Stranded in Space. I'm mulling over a few ideas for a $10 version, which may happen, but I don't want to do anything that will add more time between releases, as that's the top focus of my game.

Anyway, that about wraps up this post!

An additional preview for Touched by Sin will come around the end of the month, as will one for Stranded in Space Day 18.

To end, I'd like to say that I appreciate the support for my work. I know the updates haven't been as regular as most of you would like, but in all ways (including for Stranded in Space 2), I'm making changes to fix that. Faster updates are important to me.

Oh no :-( There's so many examples out there where creators had 3 month windows for updates, then they added a 2nd game suddenly, the update schedule for both went to 6 months each, which lost them all their patreons and progress updates completely stopped until there was no more schedule for both at all... and the only reason you know they are still alive because after a year one of the game suddenly gets updated, just for communication to stop again for another year.

It's true that a lot of devs fail at maintaining two games at once. A lot of them burnout. But I'm determined to make it work. One thing that helps is that I still enjoy doing this. I like putting the scenes together and telling a story. If I'm feeling any burnout, it's due to being unable to get Stranded in Space over the top in terms of popularity and player count. I want to do this and only this for at least the next few years, and I'm hoping Touched by Sin helps me to achieve that goal.

I fear that creating two games at the same time will lead to imminent burnout. I have no doubt that Touched by Sin will be quality as SiS has been, however devs in the past have tried making two AVNs at the same time and it hasn't worked. SiS is already taking 2-4 months of development time and adding another game during the downtime of it's development will eventually lead to something giving. Of course, perhaps you can handle it and I'm just talking out of my ass. However, I would much rather see the downtime of development for SiS be used for your own personal time as a creator does need time away from their creation in order to be able to "refuel". Hopefully, all goes well.

So you'll be updating, writing, creating, both at the same time? And you said SiS 2?! I should go back and read previous updates to see if there's stuff I missed. Anyway, I'm looking forward to Touched By Sin! :)

You are a great storyteller Wildman, so I have no doubt that Touched by Sin will be a great game. A lot of people don't see the value of a great story in an adult game, but it brings so many extra layers to it that keep people hooked. :) Regardling Stranded in Space 2. Are the future updates for that game going to be released with the same speed as Stranded in Space 1? Or will it be longer/slower? I dont't know if you forsee how the size of that game will compare to the original? :)

Touched by Sin is on a second computer - the three hours I might spend on a scene in Stranded in Space? There's off time in between renders - plus I might have to redo one, or set something up slightly differently, etc etc. When I click render, I turn my head 20 degrees to my right and set up a shot in Touched by Sin. This, plus the first prong/point I mentioned above, are why the updates won't slow down with Stranded in Space even with a second game. The update speed will especially be a good thing when Stranded in Space 2 releases, but that's for another post.

Think of Touched by Sin like the thing I hope to release during off months. In between SiS updates. It's here for people who continually support; that's the goal.

Yeah! i love your game. maybe i will enjoy Touched by Sin also but atm i want to enjoy SiS til the end haha

Nothing can stop Day 18 from being released before September 1st. Beyond that, my focus will always be on Stranded in Space—it's my baby. My updates are already taking too long with the game; I won't let them get worse.
