Hello Everyone!
Welcome to this week’s news post. We’ll be chatting about the last week in Alpha, what we’re working on and what’s coming next.
There is no new release alongside this Dev Update.
We’ve reached 1,000 active Patreon supporters for Melvor Idle 2’s Alpha.
This is…quite insane. When we started planning all those months ago, we didn’t think it was possible to get to 1,000 supporters this quick, or at all for that matter.
Yet here we are…after less than a month!
On behalf of everyone working on the Alpha right now – THANK YOU! (Seriously, thank you.)
We honestly could not do this if we did not have such a passionate community behind us to support us, provide feedback, playtest, fight with bugs, make (unhinged) suggestions, etc.
It’s been a lot of fun so far building Melvor Idle 2 with everyone (including all the memes), and we can’t wait to see where it goes over the upcoming months as we release more major updates.
We’re trying to think of a way to celebrate this milestone, so if you have any ideas, leave a comment below or mention something in Discord. (Or ping Straw!)
Again, thank you so much everyone. We still have a while to go, but we couldn’t have a better community to take this journey with us.
We’re getting really close to the initial release of Farming. There are some things that need to be finished off first, like work on some required core features and making further UI adjustments which are pretty much done.
Mastery Guilds are also tracking along really nicely! It’s a lot of monotonous work getting all these individual tasks created, balanced and added. They’ve been changed and reworked multiple times in the last week, but it's in a state where the tasks are being added to the game now.
I don’t expect there to be a large gap at all between Farming’s release and the Mastery Guilds release (maybe a one week gap, unless they somehow release at the same time).
I appreciate your patience on this update! The Alpha release has highlighted some core issues with the foundations of the game (like the cloud system) which took priority to rework and rectify.
Here is what we’ve been working on recently.
Malcs:
Finalised Farming UI to a “good enough” state ready for release.
Making good progress on Mastery Guilds. Has begun adding the initial tasks and bonuses to the game.
Also working on implementing other miscellaneous things for the Major Update based on community feedback.
Coolrox:
Finalised the refactoring the Cloud & Patreon login flow & exception handling to be more stable, and to catch issues more gracefully without halting the game.
Working on adding more core functionality to the Modifiers system used in the game. Required for many upcoming Skill features.
Prat:
Prat is on leave and may return in a week's time.
Tapi:
Further work with Farming artwork! More plants, more seeds, more products.
