Patreon Vlog №2

It's September! I mean, it has been for a while, but I've finally found some time to record a vlog. Fair warning: it's a long one, and I foolishly picked out a rather strong beer to drink. On the plus side, the audio quality should be much better. Still getting the hang of this vlogging thing, it's a pretty alien domain. Ambition for next month: less rambling. I may take comments/questions/topics from patrons in the future.

I never thought a drunk, rambling Stu would be the thing i needed, but this was all too wholesome my man!

P90 :D! It's basically the go to gun to make your movie/anime/game look a bit futurisitic.

As far as what 750ml converts to in "American" I think you're ok in alcohol terms. Liquor here is primarily labelled in ml before you see the oz amount so most of the legal age ought to know what 750 ml is.

Alexander Sturm

would you be willing to go on PKA sometime soon?

Definitely need a new channel called DrunkAhoy.

25.4 fl/oz ;)

John Swanson

It's a shame you can't just use your existing VO setup. But we don't really mind the quality as long as the vlogs keep being this entertaining :)

Noah Lach

All of these vlogs should just be you drunkenly responding to YouTube comments.

Jazz Jackrabbit

No need to apologize for the vlog length.....loved every second of it. Drunk Stu is best Stu. :D

I'm reluctant to tread too far outside the realm of games, as that is (ostensibly) what my channel is about. Iconic Arms kinda works because games are often the starting point for folk's interest in guns - and where most people's experience with military weapons ends. I suppose the same is true for tanks/planes/helicopters etc, but I'd need to think how the format is going to work: it'd probably be easier if I were more into flight sims. I do love my driving games, however - so 'Iconic Cars' is an idea I've mooted for a while.

Coasters are for chumps. But I might isolate the mic from the desk. Eventually I may invest in a slightly more professional setup.

Civ is my favourite game, so it's high up on the list of 'videos I would like to do'. See also: RetroAhoy: XCOM.

I'm aiming for a slightly more structured ramble - some predefined waypoints for me to casually wander between.

Ahoy

Me too - looking forward to trying a more analytical narrative. Plus, I get to do cool 80s graphics.

I'm in the process of setting up a PO Box - I may take questions on a postcard in the future! I'll look into livestreaming.

Thanks!

If, once you feel like you've come to the end of Iconic Arms, you should wish to do another series in a different style, I'd love to see a series for iconic military vehicles. The German Panzers, the A10 Warthog, the Apache Gunship, the Dreadnaught, the D-Day landing craft... There's a lot of pretty cool potential there, and a lot of interesting stories to tell. In addition, it would give you a platform to look at a few more games outside the FPS and TPS genres, which might be interesting. Anyway, just a thought.

I think that, one of the things you should buy with your new found patreon money should be a nice coaster to place your glass on quietly.

Sandwich247

Really enjoying these. Keep it up!

Live streaming would be very cool -- OBS Studio makes it very straightforward to set up. Either way, enjoyed the video; some nice background patter for a lazy afternoon.

William Judd

I didn't mind the length of the video at all. It's great stuff! And as a father of a little one myself I can relate to the lack of time to produce stuff. Just keep it up, Stu!

Tobias Svalås

The longer I watched the more entertaining it became. I like the sound of Retro Ahoy: Civ.

Well worth the length, another enjoyable vlog! Look forward to the October vlog!

I'm pretty sure I'm okay with DrunkAhoy.

first time i've seen one of these, and i have to say i'm loving it! Keep em coming Stu!

Glad that you hit the new threshold, Stu! Thanks to listening to the sound quality request. Personally, I don't have any problem with rambling in a Vlog,we come here to listen to you talking in a casual manner, after all.

I'm just getting started and looking forward to this. Yes please.

The Bottle of Beer

I think 56 minutes is the point where Stu left the building and the beer took over.

Looking forward to the Polybius episode :P

Cora

I'm only 20 minutes in and already I can't wait for next month's! If you want to take questions and stuff have you considered live streaming these vlogs? I know it would require totally new equipment but it'd be a cool way to build a sense of community.

Noah Lach

glad you reached a new Patreon threshold, all the best.

I am going to watch this after co-optional. I loved the last one.

Sandwich247

Was looking forward to this. Was not disappointed.
