Good Will Hunting (1997) | Full Length Reaction

This week's Movie Night is 'Good Will Hunting'.

Danny had already seen this one but it was a first time for Niamh, and she loved it.

She loved the growth of all the characters as they move through the film. There are so many touching and uplifting moments in this one. We had a great time recording it, we hope you enjoy watching 😊

*This has been recorded in a watch-along format. You will need your own copy of the movie/tv show*

Man this is literally my favorite movie. Love the dialogue, how grounded it feels, the message. Thanks so much for reacting to it! Another oldey emotional movie like this with Robin Williams is called Dead Poets Society. Highly recommend it!

Facetime and Films

I was really enjoying Niamh's whiplash response at the beginning of the film. The pacing of it is very different that the plot based narratives that get the big budgets. Its something that I love about indie films, they aren't afraid to just let the audience wander around aimlessly with the characters for a while. Lets you experience the texture of their world in a more intimate way.

Thank you for your reactions to "Good Will Hunting". No matter how many times I watch this movie I go through a bunch of tissues, lol. *reactions What impresses me the most after so many viewings is the writing talent of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. The characters are so well defined and have such brilliant dialogue. I think also that credit is due for them writing such a wonderful female character in Skylar. Matt and Ben were in their 20s when they began writing the story and they accomplished what older, more experienced screenwriters have done with characters. A popular film starring Minnie Driver and John Cusack is "Grosse Point Blank" (1997). It's a fun one, so no fear of tears for this one ;) A harder film to watch is "Sleepers" (1996), about a bunch of young boys who suffer unimaginable abuse at the hands of adults. Minnie Driver plays a close friend of the boys who grows up with them into adulthood. Ben Affleck co-wrote the adapted screenplay and directed a powerful heist film, "The Town", that also takes place around South Boston. Academy Award nominations for "The Town" and next movie... Affleck directed his brother Casey in an effective crime procedural, "Gone Baby Gone" based on a Dennis Lehane novel, once again taking place in Boston. Boston seems to hold a lot of interest for film subjects, probably because of its historical significance in America, its diverse population, and its regional accents. "Mystic River" is a crime procedural based on another Dennis Lehane novel and won an Academy Award for Best Actor.
