I'm still exploring the possibilities of the printer and cutter setup I've been (perhaps unwisely) investing in. Today I wanted to see if cards cut in my silhouette cutter would be precise enough to stack up nicely, and they totally are, and the print quality looks nice too. These are very tiny; I set them up on one A4 sheet, but in theory they'd be a decent size laid out on A3.
I forgot there's 22 of them, not 21, so we're actually missing one in this 3x7 layout. Maybe I'd make sheets of 21 of them, and a sheet of 21 copies of the missing one, haha. Probably a better plan would be to make them a standard size and eat a bit more material wastage.
I am having enormous trouble finding good options for print stock in australia, however. The smaller market size (and the inundation of search results from the US) means it's pretty hard to find shops that sell digital printing paper in standard sizes beyond plain copy paper. I might need to buy it bigger from a wholesaler and cut it down? What a headache.
At the same time, I went back to looking into how much it would cost to get tarot cards professionally manufactured, and it's not as out-of-reach as I thought. My supporters here acts as a strong justification for further investment in me making stuff. Still, I don't know how interesting a set of 22 major arcana is as a product. Would you pay for a box of 22 BSP major arcana? How much? I think if i could sell >40 that could probably cover manufacture... But also, it would be so cool to have gold foil details, and that almost doubles the manufacturing cost, rip
