Since it was early in the morning my mom and I went to the local dealership to get it fixed, since we thought it was a little piece and could be fixed fast. When we got to the dealership we were told the part was going to be $59 and the labor was going to be around $130. When I told them it was a brand new car, barely a week old he said he could waive the charge for the part but the labor would have to be paid. While we were waiting I looked it up on youtube and saw how easy it was especially with my tiny hands and thin arms and said I would just do it myself and asked how much to rent a screwdriver. The guy actually laughed at me like I said something funny and said, "hey girl, I'll lend you the screw driver and if you can do it yourself, i'll through in a free car wash." It took a few minutes to figure out how to get one of the clips off without breaking it but once I did it took about 10 minutes to get them off, a few minutes to replace the part and even faster to put it all back together and I'll modestly say about 15-20 minutes and when the guy came back to us waiting for him, he said "given up already?" I responded, "no, was just waiting for our free car wash."

Way to go. I repair my car the same way and build my apartment anew this way. Sad that a lot of men still look down upon women for being able to do “men” stuff.
