Cleaning your airbrush
Added 2025-04-20 01:40:52 +0000 UTCHey dudes. So it came to my attention recently that someone I know who has airbrushed for a few years didn’t actually know how to clean the airbrush properly. And it was only after his broke and I gave him an old one that I had laying around which needed cleaning and I saw how he approached it that I decided this has got to be adressed and if he’s doing it wrong then perhaps some of you guys unknowingly are doing it wrong too. Also I’m sure there’s a bunch of you who have this simplish task down to a fine t, but for the others in between they may want some confirmation or affirmation on the subject.
Hopefully this video is helpful to someone. I let my airbrush get hella dirty for this.

I use an Evolution airbrush and have been into scale modeling for about 10 years, but only recently got into resin printing — and I absolutely fell in love with creating miniatures. That’s when I discovered your videos, and I just wanted to say — your techniques are incredibly inspiring. I keep rewatching your content and learning something new every time. Your combo of Vallejo and Citadel paints was a real eye-opener for me! I used to work mostly with aircraft kits, so I'm still gaining experience with miniature painting. I have a few questions that are really important to me: When you move on from magenta and red to laying down the skin tones — what needle size and air pressure do you use? For the first skin layer (kind of a mid-tone) — do you thin your paint 50/50 with water, or do you use more paint in the mix? When you're applying skin highlights — do you keep the same needle, and do you change the pressure? The videos are quite sped up, and I guess some parts are edited out. How often do you use a hairdryer to dry your layers, and how much time do you usually spend on that? Thanks so much in advance for your time and answers! 🙏

2025-04-20 16:29:20 +0000 UTCThanks so much for this! I have been airbrushing for small amount of time in comparison to yourself and some others here, so this is more than helpful. I actually started with a cheap airbrush and compressor set I bought for just over £120, which worked pretty decent….until I tried to “clean it” 😬 this is when I broke it 🤦🏼♂️ luckily the set came with 2 so I had a spare. I’ve now switched to Iwata Eclipse CS which is awesome, so I don’t want to break this one by cleaning it! Lol 😂
