Battle Visual Overhaul!
Added 2023-12-23 16:56:19 +0000 UTCHere's a fun update- the whole look of the battle system has been completely overhauled! Now characters have portraits instead of just names, enemies have health bars, and there's a cool Earthbound-style moving psychedelic background! Now hopefully, battles will look a lot more visually interesting!

Yeah, it's a little more out there of an addition haha, it's still in development though, so things could end up changing around with it, too!

2023-12-26 16:15:32 +0000 UTCI'm liking this new look, like I said before all of these UI changes makes this game feel that much more unique. Being able to see the enemy's health helps a ton with not wasting MP on high cost moves too. Obviously it's difficult to tell with just a still image, but the backgrounds look really nice. The only issue I have with these location-ambiguous battles is when they're applied irregularly, like how Pokemon does unique exterior battles but interior battles take place in a void. So long as these new backgrounds are seen everywhere then that's fine. Boss battles I would understand being given unique/location-relevant scenes if you were planning for that though, I feel it would help make them stand out more.

Sure their cool to look at, but I like seeing the backgrounds of the area your in [a forest for the frog, the base for the drones ext.], as it helps make one feel like their battling in that very area. I'm sure others like the Earthbound style 'pocket-dimension area' sort of style, but it's not for me. It COULD work for areas that seem to small for a big fight, or have more wilder situations happening in them if it helps.
