2025-07-21 21:45:32 +0000 UTCThere's no doubt that there's a lot in MSP that directly references Bad Buddy. In some ways, it's a little bit of an homage from P'Au (director of MSP, asst director on Bad Buddy) to P'Aof (director of Bad Buddy, probably a bit of a mentor to P'Au). Fans who have been around for a while probably watched Bad Buddy before MSP, and the shows seemed inextricably linked even then. Bad Buddy gets romanticized by fans a lot (ffs, I have Nong Nao tattooed on me, so I'm not free of that accusation) but that's because it subverted a LOT of tropes in BL. It's not perfect, by any means, but it did have a huge impact on the BL world in general. For one thing, there just weren't as many BLs!
