Smoke and ash in the air is always a signal of troubles. Especially when one of your friends took the party to the place which they called home. It was the main topic of your conversations for the last few days. Searching for the lost travelers leads you to the motherland of your human friend, who was raised on the farm nearby, so you’ve decided to pay a visit to his family.

- My neighbour Willy is a very… interesting man. His favourite activity is collecting all kinds of mushrooms from the local woods and caves, and making a stew from it. One time this mixture made him grow big like a barn! And you know how he came back to the normal size? He ate the stew again, but cold! I can’t believe this man was sure that if hot stew made him grow, the cold would do the opposite, and I couldn’t believe when it worked.

And at this moment we saw the signs of the fire.

Our horses started running like a wind, so we could inspect the village - or what’s left from it.

After a while we saw buildings burned to the ground, destroyed carts and multiple marks of the hooves dug deeply in the soil.

There was no sign of the fight and the marks were visible enough to track the intruders, but we don’t know how much time we have. Maybe we had a quest, but family of our friend have a higher priority than strangers, but if someone took them without killing on the spot, maybe the lost travelers share the same fate as the local people.

Who can it be? Outlaws? Deserters? In the worst case it might be a cult. Anyway, if we can save them - we are going to do it.

We took a moment to sharpen the swords and prepare spells. Whoever is responsible for this kidnapping should be afraid.
