Crossing The River

Hello everyone! This week's map is Crossing The River.  Calm water, narrow stream - the perfect place to cross a river. Is it possible that bandits or monsters are lurking around? Maybe someone hid behind a wall or between trees? We leave the explanation of this puzzle to the DM and his players.

"Crossing The River" [30x30]  has 2 map variants (plus grid, no-grid, JPG, PNG and PDF versions, ready for Roll20, Foundry or your favourite VTT platform).

 ***

Calm water, narrow stream, and beautiful landscapes all around. This is the perfect place to take a break before further travel, also it would be easy to cross the river here…

But we have to hurry. Being chased by the trained hunters is a serious business. How much time do we have, a week, a day? There’s a slight chance of them being ahead of us - they know this area, we don’t.

But putting ourself in the danger was worth it. We’ve managed to steal this book, handwritten by the king princess Quill, elven noble who was treated like a goddess in her tribe. One day she left her people, but she left this book with a note that she left instructions on how to find the place where she’s going.

But after some local conflicts the book and all her belongings were stolen and sold as powerful artifacts, but no one was able to use their power.

I’ve heard rumors about the elven goddess who manifested her will by the mortal body, but I’d never thought it was a true story - until we’ve met this old priest. Other elves were taking care of him and thanks to them we were able to communicate with him.

He was… attached to the tree, his corpse was a part of the trunk, and when he was speaking his voice was quiet like a leaf on the wind. I am not an expert, but he looked old enough to be a part of the story about the princess.

And the hunters? Well, we had to steal the book from the horribly stupid and horribly wealthy noble. He was so obsessed that even his wife helped us out, she just wanted this book to be gone.

The noble’s honour was hurt so deeply by the theft, that’s why we are tracked.

Now get up, we have to go.
