The Fighting Arena

We will not hide that we are big fans of "Games of Thrones" and we always wanted to create a map referring to this series. So welcome the map for adventure in the world of Lanisters and Starks. Or you can just use it on any adventure where a group of heroes must face their opponents in the arena.

"The fighting pits are huge circular arenas in the slaving cities of Astapor, Yunkai, Meereen. They provide the cities citizens and visitors with entertainment. The ones in Meereen are the largest and most extravagant, with the main pit being Daznak's Pit.

Within the pits, beasts are pitted against beasts, gladiators against gladiators, beasts against gladiators, and even beasts against slave children, dwarfs, or crones, all for the entertainment of the onlookers.

The combatants wear no armour in the fighting pits as it is blood the crowds have come to see."

Fighting pits are centers of entertainment in many slaving cities of the Forgotten Realms - Astapor, Yunkai, Meereen, and many more. Rivers of gold and silver are spent on bets for the warriors fighting in the arenas. The ones in Meereen are the largest and most extravagant, with the main pit being Daznak’s Pit.

The main attraction is Orduk, an enormous Orc fighter brought from the far north. His weapon of choice are his bare hands - strong enough to smash helmets and break shields, and surprisingly faster than most of his opponents.

Fortunately sending trained slaves to death every week is not very profitable and most of the fights are stopped after the first blood or surrender. All of the slaves owners are paying huge amounts of money for trainers who teach their slaves how to fight, not how to kill. That’s why it’s so entertaining - they are made to build the emotions of the crowd.

Of course warriors are not paying for their training by winning, they are thrown into more and more deadly tournaments and if they are lucky enough to survive, but not enough to please their owners, they are forced to face Orduk. For now - no one was able to beat him.

Some free men are trying their luck in the fights. Trying to get money or fame, they are coming from around the world. Sometimes champions from other cities are brought to another, and those are the biggest events. Sometimes nobles from the “civilised world” are seen on those, but no one is talking about it openly.

So who are you going to be? For what are you going to fight? Money, salvation, or because you have to? Or maybe your party visits the city and takes part in this cruel sport as an observer?

Feel free to change the story and write your own, let the championship begin!
