Holy mountain and on it a lonely temple in which local residents paid homage to the deities of this land. Many years ago, an earthquake destroyed the temple, which caused the appearance of evil forces in the area. Currently this area is dangerous and after dark demons appear here...
***
The mountain was a sacred place for the locals - they even built the temple on the top of it, to worship deities of this land.
However, many years ago an earthquake destroyed the temple and the spirits, who lost connection with their followers, went mad. Corrupting land and life around the mountain they scared away last people who had an idea of what they were before.
Currently the area of the temple is dangerous after dark - weird shades and demons were seen, and the howling of the fiends fills the air every night.
Ancestors of the halfling families living here before still remember the stories from the good old times and they are still looking for a way to repair the bounds with the spirits. Shaman Polo, a redhead man is sure that his idea can bring peace, but it must be done from the inside. He had to go into the lion’s den.
Of course it’s not easy, the demons are very dangerous and no one knows what has risen there during all those years of corruption, but a group of adventurers could be enough to protect Polo, or do the first scouting and try to come up with a better plan.
The main danger are the monsters, but the terrain is not easy either. Bridges connecting parts of the temple are falling apart and it’s easy to fall, and the aura of this place makes everybody get tired faster than usual. Only the halflings are able to move there freely, without shortened breath. According to Polo’s words that’s because halflings are closer to the earth and the sacred land is protecting them, but it may be connected with the lack of oxygen in the heights.
