"Evil Altar" [20x30] has 1 map variant (plus grid, no-grid, JPG, PNG and PDF versions, ready for Roll20, Foundry or your favourite VTT platform)
A bloody altar in an evil cult temple. Things that are happening here are beyond human understanding. Nobody who came here comes out without being a crazy being ...
***
We’ve met cultists before, but they were just toys in the hands of the powerful leaders. It took us some time, but finally, we’ve discovered the location of the main base of the cult.
Under the city there was a cave system, connecting all of the crucial points of the town - when it was discovered we knew that the mayor and high priest was deeply involved in the disappearance of our friend.
As we went we saw beasts and horrors beyond human imagination, results of horrifying experiments and demonic powers, but we were determined to save as many lives as possible.
I don’t remember how long we’ve been down there. Hours? Days? Adrenaline and magic was keeping us alive, but for that time we’ve switched to the killing machines.
But slaying monsters doesn’t make me a monster, right?
Right..?
Finally we found the main hall and the main altar. Odour of decaying meat and blood was overwhelming, but there was no body at sight.
At first I thought it was just my mind, we were covered in the black discharge from the demons and the smell might come from me, but it was too familiar. Too much human-like.
The altar was glowing with dim, blue light and when it started the… roots of something spurred out of the wall.
And I knew where the smell came from. My whole squad nearly vomited when these meat-like tentacles hit the ground, but we were ready.
The face of the mayor appeared in the portal, now in the cultist’s robes and he raised his hands, summoning smaller demons.
Fight between light and the dark will never be over.
