Started tackling this painting. I chose two characters for this page to try and challenge myself to keep my design and painting choices more consistent.
I love these types of poses.. i dont really know how to describe it, but i just like to imagine they're models posing for some type of fashion magazine

In preparation for our monthly "u vote and I draw" thing, I started watching some Gravity Falls!! I always wanted to check it out... and now i have the perfect reason to.
I sketched these while i watched a couple episodes π€

Whatever this is! I really like the color tones on it tho- the pastel yellow of the bg pops nicely against the hot pink and milder blue of the hair. The gamut range might be a little all over the place though.... maybe.... who knows
It's likely this one will sit in my unfinished pile forever π€·ββοΈ

If u follow me on IG, you might have seen some clips of me working on this abstract exercise. Here, I'm letting myself push the shapes, forms, and materials as far as I'd like. It's completely random and improvised. It's honestly so fun and I feel like I can just zone out and do this all day!! I'll keep you all updated as it growss

Improved mechs (and some cars). It's actually really fun trying to draw hard-surface objects in my style... I think i could do some brushing up on my robotics/mechanics, though.
I love how gummy/chewy these are feeling.... almost like they're made out of candy lol.

Big ol page of warmups! I filled this up over the course of ~2 weeks. I try to keep each one under 5 minutes, focusing on establishing a clear gesture as quick as possible, then roughly blocking in key areas of tone and shadow.
I've been pretty bad with my actual gesture drawing studies, so sneaking 1 or 2 into my warmup routine has been a great way to keep those skills sharp while i'm working on my thousands of other stuff haha

Stylized anatomy study π I think it looks a little weird/uncanny (esp around the torso area) but these were definitely a fun challenge. Something I'd like to take note of for future reference, is the balance of simplification and definition that happens when drawing in a particular style. Sometimes, over rendering a specific area can make everything else feel unfinished in comparison, throwing off that "balance" of the entire drawing.
Just something 2 think about!

An original character I've been developing. I wanted to keep the outfit very simple, but create some interest with little hits of detail, such as the undershirt, striped pants, and especially the shoes. I always liked the silhouette that characters with superr baggy clothing make... but I wanted to do so in a way that wouldn't inhibit their mobility/poseability, since too much drapery turn into a nightmare for me to draw lol.
So far... I think the style works. Maybe I can even push the bagginess further??? I'll continue to explore.
