Patreon Exclusive: Spellcasting House Rule Changes!

Enjoy this exclusive video, only for Patreon members! We've recently instituted a fairly substantial revision to how spellcasting works in our game, primarily for arcane casters such as magic-users, elves, and half-elves. So you're not lost when a magic-using character suddenly "breaks the rules", I've recorded a summary of these changes, and my thoughts on why I made them.
Please let us know what you think, and thanks for your continued support!

Transcribing spells from scrolls never sat well with me for various reasons. One is the scroll hoarding. Another is that the sheer number of scrolls made it the primary way players would collect spells. In terms of the fiction, I don't buy the idea that all the instructions necessary for casting the spell - components, sigils, incantations, etc - are written on the scroll. I consider them single-use magic items imbued with the power of the spell rather than the instructions for the spell itself.

I dig these rules. The ones regulating the use and transcribing of scrolls I think I'll use in my own megadungeon campaigns, actually.
