I really loved this series - all three of the Maneuvers audios, but this one in particular, are so evocative. The SFX and script work so well in this one to paint a picture; I had no trouble imagining what everything looked like - the truck, the stars, their body language, the lighting in the bedroom. It was really compelling to watch this trilogy of audios evolve from 'Shy Girl' (I still love the original, but what a transformation...) If this charming stargazing character doesn't end up getting more "screen time" in the Continuum, that's okay, but I would love to see more of him. :3

Am I the only one that prefers audios like this? The ones that are more personal and from the heart? Love the work by the way Tom, keep it up🥰☝🏽

Tom, listening to a story of yours is an emotionally all-inclusive vacation from reality. Not only are they my favourite places to travel, but I have amassed a whack of Frequent Flyer Miles.
I’ve listened to this three times already (more miles for me!) and my natural tendency to question things and over-analyze has my brain dissecting half of your dialogue and playing the game of, “what if he said THAT because he meant THIS or because he’s really THAT?” 👀 I like listening to it twice back to back so that I can allow one listening for my thoughts to spiral with bizarre associations and questions and then the second time I just listen and take it all in, accepting everything that is said at face value. Yeah I know, I’m weird.
I loved the reference to Aran’s affinity for “party tricks” and the “this is totally not some kind of maneuver” remark. Very clever 😉 The Danny Tanner comment and the “your burning chunks of space garbage are still pretty to watch” made me burst out laughing…and I experienced a full body gag & heave at your mention of Two Girls One Cup…good God! 🤮
I’ve been loving all the star talk in this series. I spent many summer nights at our cottage hanging out with my dad, staring up at the stars. He taught me the few constellations he knew and we would look for satellites and point them out to each other. He showed me how to find the North Star and use it as a compass if I was ever lost and eventually we bought a constellation book and learned to find a few more. Of course the highlight was seeing a shooting star…space garbage or not. LOL Anyway, I love that all the star talk has me remembering these childhood memories.
The story about his parents had me in tears. It was so well done, Tom. Your voice. The music choice. Everything about it was so good and so sad.
The discussion about loneliness…giving up on looking and resigning yourself to being alone…I definitely relate to that (I call it being miserably content). I loved the reminder that not only do we often not realize what we have until it’s gone, but we also may not realize that something is missing until we’re presented with it. It’s that second one that I think we don’t always remember.
Oh! I almost forgot…that whole cozy, sleepy, breathing, murmuring part. Tom, please. It’s right up there with Aranath’s Wing Cocoon in terms of relaxation and comfort. So, I vote for a Cozy Nap with Tom audio of you breathing and your sleepy voice periodically mumbling to us. I think this has become a necessity for many of us. Pretty please times infinity. 💜🙏

The score and the different ways you established transitions were on point. As was your acting. There were fun Easter eggs all around (including dropping TWO of franchise names?!?). I hope to hear Aran talk about the dude who tutors him in astrophysics and how they fanboy over the naming conventions and history. Also, if this dude is close to the people at the party, does that mean this Dan (who, of COURSE, is a gastronomical genius) is the same that TJ mentioned??? Hmm.
What a departure from the piece that "inspired" it.
As for the script, it's balanced in its structure, as a standalone and within the series. And this line? "It's not fair that we can't see ourselves together." Somewhat bittersweet but emphasis on sweet. It's also a nice parallel to what can and can't be witnessed in the heavens from our vantage point. It's a moment in time, but it's theirs. Even if they were to photograph it, it's not the same as being *in* it. An ephemeral experience and different perspectives [potentially] alter the meaning. So they have just now and that's enough.
Anyhoo, not sure how intentional this was, but regardless, I appreciate how "Maneuvers" turned out to be 3 parts that could stand alone but were greater in the totality... not unlike the 3 stars of Orion's Belt~

My eyes are aching! Damn these emotions! Seriously, loving the lived-in vibe of this. Especially love how you capture vulnerability and openness that comes out of one of those amazing lightning-in-a-bottle, time-stops kind of nights(and mornings). The best kind of "magic" 😉
Beautifully presented, as always. This series is a favorite already.

Omg this was so good! Current fav. It's like 3 chapters in one. I like the scene when they were in bed with the light breathing it was getting me sleepy. So relaxing, so ASMR, love that. My favorite part was the morning after is was so wholesome, then he talked about his parents😭. And the transition sound effects were really cool.

My god I love the way your brain works I swear, this audio was so good. Never even crossed my mind that Manuevers would be a part of the great Banter Verse so the squeal that left my mouth at the lines "Do you believe in Magic"/ "My friend Aran does". Whether this character is an established one or someone completely new idc I'm just excited to hear the next part. The car crash story made me tear up as well
Also you are a tease Tom, the record cutting right at the end? Grrr

Darnit you made me cry again.
My parents both lost their own folks when they were young and they met like this in college, so this piece felt a bit personal.
Lovely work as always👌🏾❤️
