Development Update

Hey everyone, as we're wrapping up the last few assets and tweaks for the full 0.10 release and getting ready to move into a new phase of development we have some major updates to share.

Steam Release

A Steam release is officially in the works and our store page will go live in the next couple of weeks after it finishes review. We're still not sure how we're going to handle the actual game launch but we're leaning towards waiting until a final release instead of going the early access route. Steam keys are planned as a benefit for the Ultra tier, but we need to get further into the process to figure out how all of that will work.

Updated Pricing

Now that we're moving into a new phase of development we're going to be updating our pledge tiers. As a thanks for helping us to get through our awkward and slow early stage, all current supporters will be able to continue at the current tier prices. Starting on Monday Nov 14th the current tiers will be hidden and replaced with identical ones at new prices. The $1 tier will be $3, the $3 tier will be $6, and the $9 tier will be $12. In the future we'd also like to offer higher tiers but tbh we're not sure what benefits we could add that wouldn't eat into development time so it's on the shelf for now.

Release Model

Version 0.10 will be done the way we've handled all of our previous releases, but when we eventually release version 0.12 we're going to switch things up. The completed prologue in version 0.10 will be a long-term free public demo on Steam & Itch.io. That's the main reason why we're taking extra time with polish on this one. Basically instead of each new supporter version bumping the previous one into a public release we're going to have one static public version until the game is finished. This would only impact the public version, and beta access for Ultra and Premium tiers would remain the same. The reason we're considering this is because we'll eventually wind up in a weird situation where a free version that's one update behind the completed game is available alongside a full game with a price tag. Having said that we're not 100% married to this idea and we're open to input, so let us know what you think. We also want to make sure the Basic tier isn't getting shafted so we're considering adding access to occasional milestone versions  (v0.20, v0.30, v0.40, etc.) as a benefit to that tier.
