Some info about the songs: Tim McGraw: she had the idea of this song at a math class at 13. The Outside: she wrote when she was 12 and was feeling left out and with no real friends in middle school. Mary's Song: she met a lovely old couple that lived in the neighborhood when she was younger and they had been together since kids, so this song is inspired by them. Our song: she wrote and performed it for her 9th grade talent show. It was not going to be in the album but Taylor convinced the label to add the song because people of her school liked it
