Build Release 22.08.2025 Announcement and Changelog

Welcome to the August build release!

This build is a very special release, placing a milestone in our development of the combat system. It delivers a broad improvement pass of our combat, focusing on melee combat. We added several new enemies and weapons, defined and tuned 10 weapon base classes, reworked weapon stats such as damage and parry windows, updated animations and timings, improved enemy AI, and tuned enemy health, exhaustion, and other combat stats. Movement is more responsive, and a set of long-standing issues has been cleaned up.

Combat Arena

The new Combat Arena focuses on player vs monster using the 10 weapon base classes. It includes a Main Arena that tracks points per weapon base class, so players can see how far they can push each one, plus three dedicated Encounter Arenas for focused testing. Analytics are integrated to support balancing and iteration, so please enable them. The Combat Arena will improve and shift its focus with each new release cycle. For the latest details, check the Info Box inside the arena level.

Other areas have progressed significantly, too. We have improved the Lake Village and Pearl Village areas as well as the Apoc blockout. Our designers were very busy iterating and improving many quests and npc dialogues in the game and our sandbox has over 100 new finished props from our main story asset work. Check out the full changelog here:

Two questions: 1. Is it expected that there is absolutely no dialogue or is my installation bugged? 2. Regarding the "Old Friend Questline": I have no idea exactly how to proceed here. The letter or rather the scroll suggests that there's supposed to be something at the base of the roots. But maybe I am too blind or too stupid, but I ave searched the area around the World Tree's roots several times and found absolutely nothing. Is there more information here about where exactly to look or what to look for? Or do I need to look at a speficifc time of day?

The melee combat is a nice improvement, I can see the inspirations, and it's definitely an improvement from where you at a year ago. However, I will say it is annoying to snipe somebody in the head with an arrow and it does very little damage. Its very... unimmersive. While it might not have the best balancing, I feel like a headshot should be an instant kill for anyone, player included. Just my opinion.

Michael Irizarry

Currently not, the main focus is to get targeted feedback for the combat itself.

Customization of character in arena mode it is not available ?

There is a ton, its in the changelog: We are developing the combat system and are reaching a good state, a test-arena has been added so you guys can test it and give us feedback to make it even better. Quests and writing have also progressed and the main story world is also taking more and more its final shape. We have made some significant improvements to loading stutters when moving in the main story world. The lags and stutters should be reduced by about 90-100% depending on your system. More performance improvements will be done at a later point closer to the finish line when the world has all of the final elements including final landscape textures and materials, final foliage models, final water models materials and effects, towns have the final model and details and are populated by npcs. Thats when we run a very big performance pass over everything.

Adeptus Steve

Any optimisations or performance improvements? And is there any additional content for the base game aside from the dialogue actually being voiced now, everything seems to be for sandbox?
