Patrick the Clydesdale had always been a shy fellow. He found college to be far more preferable to him than the public school system had ever been -- sure, there were parties, and cliques, but they were a bit easier to avoid now. Which was good, because Patty quickly found himself struggling to keep up in his courses.
Being a shy wallflower had its perks, though -- he had also always preferred the company of teachers, and had befriended many of the college's various staff. One such person was Wally, who had been a headmaster in his previous position and was now a tenured researcher.
And, as luck would have it, they shared a common interest. Having accidentally discovered their mutual enjoyment of discipline while talking over a book that discussed it, it's no surprise that Patty's confession of guilt over his slipping grades soon led to him being pulled down over his friend's knee for a brisk paddling, followed by Wally's stinging hand.
It was surprising how effective a good tanning would prove to be at helping them both clear their heads -- something the two friends would enjoy time & again as Patty dug in hard to earn his degree.
