Introducing "Snacks for Ted" - A New Patron Perk!

Do you love animals? Introducing a new perk: Snacks for Ted! Now, every patron that pledges to my Patreon will get to "feed" a real treat to my real senior rescue horse, Ted!

HOW IT WORKS
When you pledge to my Patreon, you'll automatically get enrolled in the Snacks for Ted perk. (Existing patrons are already enrolled!) Each month, I'll hold a special poll for patrons where you can vote on a variety of healthy, horse-safe treats to feed to Ted.

At the beginning of each month, I'll release a video where I feed Ted treats while thanking each patron by name. 1 patron = 1 treat. The more patrons that pledge, the more treats Ted gets!!

WHY IS THIS PERK SPECIAL?
Ted is a very old horse who hasn't always had the best life. The people who had him before we got him had no interest in providing the care he needed. As a result, Ted went without dental care for a long, long time. His teeth got so bad that he couldn't chew his food anymore, and he nearly starved.

The people who had him before we picked him up never did much except throw him hay for years and years, so treats are very much a brand new thing for Ted!

Snacks for Ted is a way for you to directly help make a difference in the life of a real animal in need, and help make up for a lifetime of neglect. In reality, most of what I make from commissions goes to the upkeep of this lovely boy, so my wife and I thought this would be a lovely way for folks to directly participate in and experience the joy of rehabilitating Ted. <3

Ted is now happy and healthy and enjoying his retirement. With the exception of light arena riding to help stimulate his brain and keep him limber, he is completely retired.

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
Horses like Ted who are old and can't be ridden regularly are not as appealing to the general public as horses that can be ridden and are generally sold for much cheaper than normal or given away for free.

Unfortunately, this puts them at high risk of being picked up by what's known in the horse world as "kill buyers": nasty reprobates that buy cheap horses and send them off to slaughter plants in Canada and Mexico.

Though we would make every effort possible to make sure Ted goes to a good, loving home, the best possible scenario is keeping Ted in the family, where he will be lavished on by his adoring fans and given the care he needs to stay happy and healthy until his final days.

Ted is known around the barn as a caricature of a funny, grumpy old man, but as you can see, he has a sense of humor and has started to learn that human beings aren't so bad. He's been there, done that, and isn't afraid of anything, except maybe an empty food bowl.
