3500 years ago (1500BCE): In India, up in the Himalayas, a yogi walking past a Shiva statue, βAll that I see is an illusion created by my senses. The true reality is that we are all one continuous, eternal field of conscious energy, called Brahman.β
1500 BCE: In Europe, βSorry, I am busy creating βcivilizationβ and bronze weapons. Donβt have time to think about this Universe stuff.β
450 BCE: In Greece, βI have figured out how the Universe is made. Everything is made up of just four elements in varying combinations: earth, wind, fire and water.β
100 BCE: Roman, βWhat the Greek dude said. Earth, wind, fire and water.β
450 CE (Current Era): Europeans, βYup, still earth, wind, water and fire. Those Greeks were brilliant.β
1700s: European, βSorry, my bad. Not earth, wind, fire and water. But still βelementsβ. Like Phosphorus, Hydrogen, Oxygen and a handful more we are discovering as we speakβ.
1800s: European, βStill βelementsβ, but more than a handful, Iβm afraid. We are approaching 100, and counting.β
Early 1900s: European, βSorry, not elements. The Universe is made up of just three things: electrons, protons and neutrons.β
1905: Einstein, βGuys, all particles of matter are actually just concentrated bundles of energy. E = mc2.β
Early 2000s: Scientist in Switzerland, walking past a statue of Shiva at the entrance to the Large Hadron Collider, βThe entire Universe, including empty space, is actually just a vast continuous field of energy. Tiny quantum vibrations in that field, interacting with consciousness, give rise to reality as we know it.β
2021: Indian yogi up in the Himalayas, βAs I was sayingβ¦β
