Last month, I took a group workshop with friends where we all painted lemons. And sitting at that canvas making art totally unrelated to my work awakened a very dormant part of my creativity that I forgot about.
Over the past few weeks, I've done more painting than I have done in years. If you've been following me for a while, you may remember when I used to paint just for fun. But since starting on my art biz full time (about 3 years ago), I haven't really done much painting at all.
But I'm really happy that I have started again, and even more happy that I actually have time right now to do so. It's been a joy finding beauty in simple things, and spending time painting from photos. I really like painting still life actually, and of course animals.
I'm trying really hard to keep this totally separate from my business, but I constantly have nagging thoughts about turning these into prints or something else. Part of it is because I actually really love some of the paintings (like the kingfisher!), and I like sharing my art with others.
For now, these will remain in my sketchbook and I'm gonna keep on painting while I have both the inspiration and time to do so :)
