Tanya's Third Life as a Barbarian Queen, Chapter LVIII

Comments

No wonder the orcs are in awe of Tanya's spellcraft, a ship "cruising" at 8 knots is basically moving the top speed of a Trireme engaging in battle manouvers or even RAMMING speed. Then the ship proves capable of going even faster after that. The funny thing is that apparently, ships move much faster if they are heavy and long, something about wave displacement. It is a good thing the ship can carry several containers, I believe that the first cargo will be to carry all materials necessary to build a port that can service the Uelaid Class Logistic Vessels in the Lizard territory, probably also carrying merchants and their cargo back to Kontia.

Asuka is doing quite well for herself as the first Helsmwoman/TestPilot of the bunny Navy. I wonder if that will lead to the expectation that she can drive anything. Speaking of...cavitation is a serious issue, since it reduces performance and drastically increases the wear and tear of the Water array. A cursory glance and looking up youtube videos about it told me that the reason for it be that there's too much difference in the pressure of the water going in and moving out, I wonder if that can be solved by a better intake design or reconfiguring the array to move the water sequentially and at increasing strenght... but that just me Dunning Krueggering it, I know jack about water pumps and pressures. Also extra funny that if the cavitation issue is solved Tanya has basically created a magical version of the Silent Caterpillar Engine of the Red October, from the classic VHS Rental and Cable movie "The Hunt for Red October" https://youtu.be/SMCoIwsaRVw?si=IDqRKrREIt8k7kmm

There will be a ship named Tanya's Revenge

Those cannons can do funny things to everyone else's wooden boats.

The cargo ship will transport wood, timber and food from far away to Kontia. The river is the fastest way to reach the Lizardmen territory. They probably won't be making a Manaburn station in Lizardman territory for a while.

And this is a logistic cargo ship, I imagine an actual patrol boat would nove much faster with the same system.

Wait a second. Tanya? Weren't you just talking about having to ration wood for fires in order to prevent people from freezing to death in their homes, just a few chapters ago? And now you've built a magic Chinese treasure ship to sell...things?

Something tells me the JSDF, when they arrive, might learn about the Lepus' witchcraft powered boats that eat charcoal or something like that and conclude very quickly and rightfully that the bunny women are the most technologically developed people in this land. Hopefully they say something along those lines in front of that Saderan princess whose name I don't recall and basically snub her *hard* in the racism. That goes double if they find out that Lepus slaves have rights that Saderan ones seemingly don't.

That is such a cool way to use magic to replicate modern equipment. Love the idea!

LOL. The merchants thought they were going to get Snu Snu only for Tanya to do actual work instead.

If she add metal platings, added more guns or the gun can rotate in any direction and improved the thruster, it would be 1860s level ironclad monitor or Virginia. It would pretty much curbstomp any wooden fleet.

8 knots is quite fast, almost as fast as a warship, add the castle and defenses (not counting having lepus crew, even if not all of them) and its a merchant ship that will not be taken by force. I am sure there will be lot of cliches but the prototype is solid and cant wait to see the reaction of the other nations when they began to have trade with the lepus, the power of their merchant fleet (and soon some fast gunboats for river defense/offense) and the efficiency of the containers.
