Feedback Request - Scion of Magic

As we get into the meat of Scion of Magic here - I've had a bunch of comments regarding the story I'd like to solicit direct feedback on, specifically regarding it's introduction and all the different terminologies of magic/world as we get into the story.
First off - Does the introduction 'work' for you? If so why or why not?
Second - Are the amount of terms being given too excessive and are they not explained enough through the higher snippets?
Third - How do you feel about the overall pacing? Is this working for you at all, or are things too slow?
Feel free to add in whatever other comments you have on this story! The more that I get the more that fine tune my approach here. As always too - telling me things that you do like are just as much if not more important than what you don't. At the very least it tells me if I'm on the right track.
