Month change!

After less than a month, we've grown closer than ever to the goal! Again, thanks everyone for becoming our patrons!!

Overall, we are quite busy these days trying to put together Alpha2, the month of August has seen a huge amount of bug fixing: 361 issues were closed for the 3.0 milestone!

We've been discussing how to implement the pledge rewards. As you have probably seen, we now have a donors file that we will update each month and the idea is to parse it during build to add it in the About box (Alpha2 should therefore have all those names included).

Voting on demos, tutorials and features

Regarding the voting on demos/tutorials and on the roadmap, we are still deciding and trying different systems to do this, as it's not a simple process (especially given the "multiple votes" perks that we proposed for higher tiers). We will probably leave at least a couple weeks for discussion and voting, to make sure everyone can join. We'll speed up this process once we figure it out well.

Here's how the process should be:

- We will share a form when any Godot user (patron or not) can propose an idea for a demo, for a tutorial and for a new feature. We want this to be open to the whole community, to ensure that everyone's voice can be heard.

- We will then sort through the proposals and hand-pick a handful of them for each category.

- We will then send a poll to pick one demo and one tutorial to the patrons of the "Vote for Tutorials and Demos" tier or higher, and another poll to vote on one feature to the patrons of the "Vote on the Roadmap" tier and higher.

- Finally, we will implement the winner of each category (Tutorial, Demo and Feature(*)) during the month.

(*) Regarding implementing features, what is outlined above is the general process, but since we are nearing feature freeze for the upcoming Godot 3.0 release, we will likely postpone the implementation of the selected feature to the 3.1 development cycle. The features selected this way by the patrons would then be worked on as soon as 3.0 has been released (and if they're simple enough, they could also be backported to a maintenance 3.0.1 release while development continues on the next 3.1 version).

Likewise for sneak peaks of new features, our priority is that you have a smooth and stable experience for 3.0 first, so we are stabilizing instead of adding features at this point. Afterwards, you'll see how some new cool features progress for 3.1 before anyone else.

Video Q&A with the devs

We're also still trying to figure out how to organize this properly. As mentioned in a previous post, we will gather suggestions from patrons of the "Live Q&A Video" tier (probably via an online form), so that we can prepare some in depth answers to the more involved ones. Then we will send those patrons an invite link for the Q&A session so that they can follow it live and interact with us in the chat. After that, we will make the video public for all to learn from our discussions.

Thanks again and we'll keep you updated on the voting process and the video Q&A soon!
