Also technically a sneak peek of the next big Roundhouse comic, this is a quick example of the secondary step I take after drawing the initial line art. I go right in close and erase bits of line in some places, while thickening bits of line in others. The idea is to simulate bolder pen strokes, and really just to jazz up the artwork a bit.
I'm told the thinner the lines, the better, but what I really hate is when lines are uniform in thickness. It's all well and good for animated cartoons, but these are still images, buddy. In this house we put in the hard yards to make lines look interesting.
