Notice 03/07/2024

Hello, I'm sorry to all of you for the inconvenience caused by the recent delay in updates.

One of the main issues we're experiencing is the various bugs that arise as the game grows in size, and the issues that need to be fixed during the build. This has resulted in more time spent testing and debugging than expected.

We are committed to repaying your waiting and understanding. However, we have tried various things, including hiring additional programmers, but the speed of updates has not improved significantly.

I just want to let you know that once a month update like before is practically impossible. In response, lead artist 'Mango' is trying to provide resources in the Spooky Milk Life production stage and then hire a new programmer while waiting for the update build, working together on other projects such as Spooky Where's Willya, Spooky Milk Nightmare, etc. While waiting for the update.

We would like to inform you that 'Mango' is currently having a hard time due to overwork and stress, and we ask for your understanding and support. We will do our best to provide the  game as soon as possible with the goal of updating this month of SML. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your continued patience.

If you have any questions, please send me a Direct message. I will try my best to answer as sincerely as possible.

What can help you guys is releasing details of your progress like what bugs you are encountering or what mechanics you’re working on. Give us a little more than just art you know?

Reginald Hanson

Yeah 7600$ would be a lot IF there was only 1 person working on this... Also, patreon takes quite a bit of every transaction " We keep 5% of each transaction, plus payment processing, currency conversion, payout fees, and applicable taxes. " (ref. Pricing FAQ Patreon support)... So yeah, I can't say you have much of an argument there.

Good luck to you and your team! Do take your time.

Welp, let's put things into context. Most of you who read this may feel that I'm being an asshole but, please, try to remember the facts that I'm about to present. Spooky Milk Life, this specific Patreon, currently has 3,800 paid subscribers (at time of posting). Now, there are multiple subscription options available but, for simplicity's sake, allow me to to use the lowest monetary allotment. That being the $2 USD option. 3800 x 2 = $7,600. Minus the Patreon percentage of %5 (%5 of $7,600 is $435.90), this leaves us with $7,164 USD a month. Using the lowest metric, that is the amount of money this group collects on a monthly basis. Now, let us multiply that by the amount of months its been since their last release, which occured in October 2023. October (1), November (2), December (3), Janurary (4), Feburary (5). We won't count March as its just begun. 5 x 7,164 = $35,820. Now, their team DID release an update in October, so let's consider it unfair to count that month. In that case, let's take $7,164 away from that figure. 35,820 - 7,164 = 28,656. In the past four months, this team has made, at a minimum, $28,656. I don't believe it's too farfetched to say that, while some of that money has been spent to develop Spooky Milk Life, another portion has been used to support the developers and their financial obligations. Some subscribers have speculated that subscription payments to this specific Patreon have been used for other projects. I bring all of that up to say this: Spooky Milf Life is obviously a profitable venture for Gingko Studio and Mango. Again, at a bare minimum, they make $7,164 a month off of it. Yet how is it that such a lucrative property is so often delayed? After all, its keeping the lights on, somewhere. Well, from this very Notice and others the team has posted, there have been roadblocks. Quite a few, actually. Currently, and this is taken directly from the notice above, one major detractor is that Mango, lead artist, is overwhelmed with work. However some of that work is being done on projects other than Spooky Milk Life. Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with an artist splitting their focus. We are all free to pursue what we wish, within the laws of our countries. Yet, because he has divided his attention, he seems to have overworked himself and thus may require some time off to readjust. Again, there's nothing wrong with that. We are all human. We all occassionally need a vacation. The problem comes from the fact that, while attention is being split and while vacations are being taken, the team is still collecting $7,164 a month, at a minimum. Essentially, and practically, they are getting money and not showing anything for it other than still images. But this is a team that promises access to a game in exchange for monthly subscriptions. Futhermore, the game has been in development since, at least, Janurary 2021. In the span of three years, routines, schedules and patterns should have been developed to allow proper time to handle this project. Yet it appears they haven't. Just as it is natural for a person to need a break from work, it's just as natural for someone to demand something they've paid for. And while it is generally considered a good thing to be supportive of people, doing so blindly can cause problems. If someone were to drive themselves to bankruptcy by spending all of their money on the lottery, you wouln't be doing them a favor by telling them that do so is "okay." Similarly, if someone pledges to do something only to fail to uphold that pledge, you would be doing more harm than good by dismissing the failure. It is possible to be understanding while still holding someone accountable for their actions. And I beliebe that's what must be done here. The Spooky Milk Life team has not upheld their promise to give early access to the updates to their game. Not in the past 4 months, anyway. And while some of their plights are understandable, we must remember that they are still collecting financial support. In other words, this is a professional venture. The addition of money changes the scope of things, after all. If there's any arguement about that, I remind you that this team consists of Gingko Studio; a team that professionally produces erotic games for profit. Those of the 3,800 paying customers who post their aggrevations at not being provided a service for which the pay a monthly subscription, are completely justified in doing so. And, as this is a professional activity, the Spooky Milk Life team should take steps to address and correct their shortcomings and broken promises. One can only get so far on Sympathy before the well runs dry, after all. (Edited for grammar) (Edited to update monetary calculations)
