Patreon Pricing Update for iOS App Users
Added 2024-08-23 16:44:26 +0000 UTCHello everyone. Apple has recently decided to institute a system by which any transaction taking place through an app on their store has to pay them a 30% cut. I don't begrudge them for this. Lord knows Apple has fallen on hard times. Tim Cook is living leaner since he only made $63.2 million in 2023, down from $99.4 million the previous year. If these trends continued, it's possible he would be making just $30 million this year. That's basically a poverty wage.
So if you're subscribed to my Patreon, or anyone else's, through your iOS Patreon app, you're going to see your prices go up. If, however, you were to instead subscribe through the web browser on your computer, the prices would not go up. So, you know... that's up to you.
