NEWS: INZOI MODS GOING FUTURISTIC

ABOUT INZOI

There was a big announcement that came yesterday from Krafton, developers of InZOI. For people out of the loop, InZOI is a new game that is similar to Sims. A thing to note off the bat about is that it has extremely small chances of surviving against Sims. Today Sims is crushing InZOI, according to steamcharts:

And Sims 4 is 12 years old while InZOI is fresh, was launched earlier this year. InZOI had massive interest when it launched. It reached a peak of 77k players, but that collapsed very quickly and keeps going down. At this rate it will be a dead game before it reaches its 1 year anniversary. Their only hope is scripting at this point.

INZOI MODDING POTENTIAL

The Sims 4 modding scene is going strong even today. There is a Sims adult mod that is more successful today than even virtamate. It's above VAM in the adult gaming category in terms of patreon supporters. That means millions of dollars.

Many modders, especially ones who do coding, are excited about the potential of InZOI. I've been keeping an eye on it too.

THE DELAY

This December we were supposed to get the big update: scripting. Krafton delayed it yesterday. But on top of that, they also changed their entire approach to scripts. They dropped all their plans, and switched the programming language:

"Following internal review, we've decided to change the scripting language used for script mods from Blueprint to Lua. To accommodate for this change in direction, all features related to script mods will be postponed to next year."

WHAT'S GOING ON

Today, a bigger news just came out from Krafton: that they're turning into an "AI first" company. The world's first big AI centered game developer they say.

Now, back to InZOI. The huge difference between Blueprint (their original plan) and Lua is that the first is a visual programming language, shit like this that you do with your mouse in a UI:

As a side-note, this is similar to the first 'plugins' you'll see in VAM2 maybe even next month, unless meshedvr blocked Visual Scripting for the upcoming environments assets.

While Blueprint is UI spaghetti, Lua is a normal programming language, with code.

With the AI news that just came out, with Krafton going all-in on AI, it's safe to assume their decision for scripting is related to AI. It was a huge and radical decision to drop their plans last minute and switch programming languages. But a key difference is that with Blueprint, they wouldn't be able to get AI agents to make mods for them. It would be something very complicated to achieved. But with the Lua programming language, they'll be able to use their AI agents - the core of their company now - to generate scripts/plugins.

They also have PUBG, but I don't think they have a lot to do there with AI agents. InZOI is their other big title and this is a sandbox built around the very idea of spamming in-game content, like Sims.

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN

InZOI content could get crazy next year. They have the sandbox platform on top of which modders can make pretty much anything. Lua will make things a lot easier for modders too. There's many modding scenes using Lua, like Garry's Mod, and many people that are used to Lua. Not so many are using Blueprint, which is meant for game developers, not modders.

The success of huge Sims adult mods like Wicked Whims, which are more popular than Virt-A-Mate even today, indicate to the potential InZOI has. What Krafton are doing with AI is going to be very controversial, people are already wishing them bankruptcy. But, out of it all, what we might get could be the best sandbox game-world driven by modding.
